Batabazi is currently working on a commercial album that will soon be released. In January 2009, however, they released a mix tape that was 20 tracks deep. The mix tape included their hit tracks “Turn it up”, “Uganda Nka” and “Binsobedde”, a collaboration they did with Chagga. They have recently done other collaborations with Peter Miles, Blu3, Ragga Dee, Vamposs, Navio and Raba Daba. “Cheater” is a song they did with Peter Miles. Dirty Shame (feat Jackie of Blu3) was their break through song into the mainstream. It debuted on Sanyu FM’s East African Countdown in December 2009 and
peaked at Number 1 in February 2010. The “Dirty Shame” video has been received very well as it is currently on rotation on WBS, NTV, NBS, Record TV and UBC. Other recently released songs are the club bangers Buuka and Tukomyewo. Buuka is currently very popular amongst club goers and Hot 100 FM listeners.
They recently remixed their anthem “Uganda Nka” that includes Ugandan artists Navio, Raba Daba and Ragga Dee and the song and video will officially be released in May 2010. Batabazi’s popularity has grown immensely in the last 8 months as during that time, they performed at the 2009 UNAA Chicago Convention, and they also performed alongside Ragga Dee and performed their soon-to-be released collaboration, “Sweep”, during his Boston Album launch in November 2009. In December 2009, they travelled back home to Uganda where we were well received at the Hip-Hop Summit, Tondeka e Kiwatule (Bebe Cool’s Boxing Day Show), Mr. DJ Concerts in Kampala and Entebbe, Sheraton UG Mix Show, Silk Street Bash and Club Rouge. Additional results of this success have included production offers from two well-established recording studios, Goodenuff Records (Dirty Shame & Sweep) and Swangz Avenue.
