Redsan who’s real name is Swabri Mohammed is a reggae musician from Nairobi Kenya.
Redsan had a passion for dancehall music from a very early age. With influences from other major artistes like Beenie Man and Shaggy, Redsan started workin on his music by featuring in a competition organized for young artistes in Nairobi around 1996.
Redsan later won the star search competition at Nairobi’s Carnivore in 1998 before progressing to become the opening act for Hardstone in cities like Nakuru and Mombasa.  Later that year he joined up with Lucas Bikedo from Sing Sounds, (one of the only record companies at the time for artistes like him) who then formed Ogopa DJ’s. While with Ogopa, he joined up with fellow musicians Chameleon and Bebe Cool from Uganda for an African tour as the original East African Bashment Crew.
His first album, “Seasons of the San” was released in 2002 under the Ogopa DJ’s record label. This album had major airplay but the best and known tracks on the album were “Julie” and “Wanipa Raha.” Later, he switched label to Southwest Records, where he recorded his second album Red, released in 2004. It contained hit tracks "Chicken" and "Apakatwe". His third album, Pioneer, was released in 2006, with singles such as "Kenyan" and "Touch".
Redsan has not only toured several countries including the US and Europe, he has also won various awards which include the Chaguo La Teeniez award and one of the Kisima Awards.
Redsan currently owns a record label called Dutty Sounds where he promotes hip hop, R&B, rap, dancehall, reggae, ragga and so much more.

Redsan’s meteoric career has not been without its share of problems. He has had feuds with media personalities and with some local artistes. His most widely publicized fallout was with CMB Prezzo, a Kenyan Hip hop artiste. Redsan attributes the rivalry to the mamny cliques that exist inside the Kenyan music industry.

For Redsan music is not just a career, although Redsan’s sale figures are some of the best in Kenya, singing is his life’s passion. However, he admits that music cannot just be about passion. It is a business and those who say they are only in it for the love of performing are not being honest.
